WHAT IS A PILGRIMAGE? Our Lady Calls defines its pilgrimages as, “a physical journey through which we deepen and strengthen our personal relationships with Our Lord Jesus Christ.”  This is the focus of our desire while in Medjugorje. On pilgrimage, we strive to remove ourselves from daily distractions and give ourselves totally and completely over to Our Lord.  Our Lady Calls pilgrimages are structured with an emphasis on spirituality, prayer, and community in order to aid in spiritual growth and renewal.  Our goal is that all pilgrims, no matter what their age or physical ability, have an equally rewarding pilgrimage.

YOUR ESCORTS AND LEADERS, Denise and Michael Hagerty, will be with you during your pilgrimage to ensure you have as many opportunities as possible to choose from while you are in Medjugorje.  Like you, we are pilgrims too and participate in the daily activities with you.  We believe that Our Lady has called us to help others get to Medjugorje. 

THE MEDJUGORJE EXPERIENCE includes activities and opportunities for all pilgrims visiting Medjugorje such as public apparitions with the visionaries when invited, public talks by the visionaries, if they are receiving pilgrims at the time.  St James Parish will also schedule visiting and local speakers, devotions of the rosary, stations of the cross, Eucharistic adoration, veneration of the cross, prayers and blessings for the sick, blessing of religious articles, Divine Mercy, the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, and daily Mass. You will get to know your fellow pilgrims, have time for personal reflection, spirituality, and prayer.

PRIEST: A priest chaplain is essential for a pilgrimage.  He will lead us in prayer and guide us spiritually. 

LOCAL GUIDE:  A local guide trained by the Franciscan priests, is knowledgeable in the history of Medjugorje and the facts relating to the apparitions. 

HOST FAMILY:  Your hosts will be a local family that has responded to Our Lady’s request to open their home to pilgrims, see to their comfort and to make them welcome. 

SCHEDULE OF DAILY ACTIVITIES – Denise and I, working closely with our local guide and our host family, will prepare an itinerary on a daily basis.  The next days’ activities will be announced at dinner each evening and posted.

Magnificats and song books will be given to each pilgrim.  We sing and pray the abbreviated office at breakfast and dinner.  The Magnificat has the daily Mass readings.

We encourage all of our pilgrims to attend daily Mass in English at 10:00 AM and participate in the Parish’s’ evening prayer program.

Our local guide will lead us on the 8 Medjugorje pilgrimage “Must do’s.”  He will be filling us in on the lives of the visionaries, local history, anecdotes and personal stories.

1. Orientation of the Parish, Medjugorje and its history
2. Climb Cross Mountain and pray the Stations of the Cross.
3. Climb Apparition Hill and pray the rosary.
4. Visits with the visionaries (if speaking to the pilgrims)
5. Visit Father Jozo (if he is speaking to pilgrims)
6. Visit Mothers Village. (local orphanage)
7. Hear talks given by local Franciscans and visiting speakers
8. Visit the Cenacolo Community and hear moving witnesses of change and hope

For those who are unable to climb Cross Mountain or Apparition Hill, Denise or I will remain at the foot of Apparition Hill to pray the rosary as the group climbs.  While the group climbs Cross Mountain, Denise or I will lead the Stations of the Cross at the statue of The Risen Christ.

DUBROVNIK:  We will poll the group to see if they want a day trip to Dubrovnik.  Additional cost of approximately $55.00. We will hire a local guide in Dubrovnik who will give us a tour of this spectacular medieval city fortress.  Typically we will arrange for our priest to celebrate Mass at a church in Dubrovnik.
